Good Day

Me and the kids are so ready for school to be out! Had to do inventory today:( Jason and Melessa came out for supper. She was gone to see her mom Sunday so I didn't get to see my little boys. They're changing so fast and just keep getting cuter. They discovered the bay window as all the grandkids have in the past. It makes a perfect stage so they were dancing around and raising their arms and saying Yeah! Got some pics I'll post later. It's raining again.

Lion King

We took Cayla and the boys to see The Lion King. I was a little worried that the boys might not like it, but they loved it and so did the rest of us. Even Ed. So glad we went. The costumes were so unique and the special effects with the staging was unbelieveable. Of course the music was fantastic. So wish I could have taken photos.

Good Easter

We had such a good Easter. Jason, Mel, the twins, Cayla and the boys were all in church. We about filled up the pew. The twins were good up until the very last then PaPa took one out into the lobby. Had a dinner and celebrated Jason's bday. Even tho it was cloudy it didn't rain and the Easter egg hunt went great. The twins were soooo cute. Posting some pics. There's an extra boy in the pic. Cale is Ed's nephew. Also a new addition is Kacie's boyfriend Mitch.<br /><br /><a href="http://pics.livejournal.com/calfinator/pic/00007gea/"><img src="http://pics.livejournal.com/calfinator/pic/00007gea/s320x240" width="320" height="222" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://pics.livejournal.com/calfinator/pic/0000861s/"><img src="http://pics.livejournal.com/calfinator/pic/0000861s/s320x240" width="320" height="223" border="0" /></a>

update

Things are going pretty good. Not much change with mother's condition. Jason & Melessa took the twins to Enid this weekend to see her relatives etc. They are gaining weight and changing everyday seems like. Ed & I got away for a night. One of our sitters spent Friday night here. We went to Quartz Mountain lodge over by Altus. Beautiful scenery and accommodations. Colton & Gus had a wrestling tournament Sat morning at Altus that we went to. Did some car shopping which about fried my brain and my patience. Of course the one I really liked(Buick Enclave) was out of our price range. sooo wait until next year and buy one used espcially since it's the first year for them. Or I may just look for an '06 Rendezous since I've really liked the '02 one I have. Really hate dealing with car salesmen!!!

Melessas went to the Dr today and they've set Oct 3 as the date they will induce if she doesn't do something before then.

Mom is still eating good. I fixed stew and cornbread today and she ate a whole bowl full and a full piece of cornbread. It's amazing the difference in her as compared to 2 weeks ago. She wanted to try and type and print on the computer today but she couldn't see well enough. Wish we had one of those new BIG monitors and a keyboard she could see. She's still not sleeping real good at night. I'm going to talk to the nurse about upping her ambien dose. I'm still coughing and blowing my nose but don't feel bad.

I was afraid she'd collapse after yall left, but she's still going good and getting around better than before you came. I think she's getting excited about the twins coming. I was afraid she wasn't going to see them but I'm pretty sure she will make it now. It was so enjoyable visiting with you guys.
update

The 2 previous days weren't very good for Mom. She hadn't been feeling too great then Thurs night she became so weak she could hardly walk. The nurse came and checked her oxygen level and it was ok so she checked her blood sugar and it was down to 70! come to find out she hadn't eaten anything since lunch. The lady who sits with her tried to get her to eat something but she wouldn't. She ate some crackers and drank some broth and it made her feel better. Friday she made herself eat because she didn't want to feel like she did the day before, but then in the afternoon she got to feeling bad and the nurse came and while he was here she threw up. He saw that it contained a lot of mucus and surmised she's been having a lot of sinus drainage and that on an empty stomach wasn't good. Got some anti nausea medicine and that has made a difference. This morning she ate pretty good and is moving around better. She is still considerably weaker than she was a week ago.

Today was better than yesterday as far as Mom goes. She was really weak and feeling so bad that she went to bed this afternoon. When I came back at 9 she was doing better and ate a little. Today she did ok. Cayla came over and stayed this morning because I was worried how she would be. She's not eating very much. Had the home health bring some Boost. I froze some and she's eaten some of that.

She seems to be sleeping better in the new bed. I don't have to sleep on the sofa anymore. Home health brought down room monitors so I can hear her if she needs me.

I didn't go in to work. The nurse was coming to do paperwork on getting Mom on hospice. We both faced the fact it was about time. Was a little unsettling even tho I know what's coming. They're coming tomorrow to put up a hospital bed so it will be easier for her to get in and out of and also to have control on her head and foot elevation. We're shifting things so both beds will be in there. She's afraid the mattress might be too soft for her. Will certainly be sobering to see it in there. She had a good night last night so felt better today. After lunch I took her to see Cayla's new house. Still trying to find someone to stay from 7-2 or 3. Don't want to run an ad but may have to.

She's been weak and not feeling good all evening. Jason and Mel came by. Poor Melessa, she is sooo big and supposed to get bigger. You could see and feel the boys moving around a bunch.
update

Today was terrible. Mom had a dental appointment and she was so weak I used the wheelchair to get her to and from the car. That seemed to be a milestone and made me feel bad. Then at the dentist, he said 2 of her teeth(side by side) were so far gone with decay they needed to come out and he was ready to do it today. At first she didn't want to because she was too tired then I sort of urged her to go ahead thinking if she got any weaker it might be a problem getting her back up there. Well, 2 hours later he finally gets the last bit of tooth! One of them had a hook on the root. Her mouth was a bloody mess and he had to put stitches in there. She was completely give out. We finally got home about 4:30 and she went straight to bed and has been asleep except to take some tylenol at 7. I feel so bad.

Mom has started having trouble swallowing again. Her follow up with the GI Dr is Friday. She has an appointment with the dentist tomorrow. I start work tomorrow also. We have a nice lady who mom knows coming in and staying from 3pm to 9pm. This helps with her nervousness and loneliness and helps me also. What's sort of funny is that she(Ruby) is 90! but you wouldn't know it. We were lucky to get her. She had been staying with a lady but she went to a nursing home so that freed Ruby up. Mom is steadlily declining. She's now having trouble with her legs jumping involuntarily. I had to come in at 3 this morning to get her to take 1/2 of a xanax. The Dr prescribed it for the jumping but getting her to take any medicine other than what's she's taking is a problem.

I'm here at Mom's waiting to give her 10:00pm breathing treatment. Yesterday was a bad day for her. Very weak and shaky. I spent the night. She was better today but is steadily declining which is to be expected. She has an appointment with a GI Dr. Tuesday to see about her swallowing problem. She's not eating much meat at all since it gets stuck in her throat. Hopefully she'll just need to have her esophagus stretched like I did a few years ago.
